Police Gun Down 76-Year-Old Man In Hospital After He Refuses To Drop His Weapon

Police in North Carolina has released footage of officers fatally shooting 76-year-old James Charles Cook. The elderly man reportedly had sneaked a gun into a hospital, and security had reported hearing gunshots from his room.

The Huntersville officers were called to the Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center in September after a nurse saw James Charles Cook with a gun, according to the Charlotte Observer.

One of the two officers who arrived at the hospital can be seen with a shield in the video.

“Sir, show me your hands! Show me your hands! Do it now!” an officer says after they spotted the armed patient.

“Sir! Put that gun down! Drop the gun … do not move! Do not move!” an officer said after they fired at Cook.
