CCTV footage emerged showing a fearless driver delivering nine sewer pipes by his car as he dangerously drove on busy streets in east China. The driver, surnamed Wang, believed the police had gone home in the evening and drove to a construction site but was caught by on-duty policemen on the way. Mr Wang was given a fine for illegally modifying his car and posing danger to the public’s safety.
According to KanKan News, Mr Wang tied nine 16-foot-long sewer pipes onto his black Volkswagen and drove to the streets of Taicang, Jiangsu Province recently. Surveillance camera footage shows the plastic pipes completely blocking the driver’s view from all directions. Mr Wang can be seen driving slow on the road with the long pipes at two sides of his car.
However, he was soon stopped by two traffic police officers. Mr Wang explained that he wanted to save up money from renting a truck. ‘It’s not a lot of stuff and it’s too late to call for truck delivery. The workers are waiting for these pipes, I have to send them over,’ said Mr Wang. He attached two sets of metal racks at the front and at the back of his car to hold the pipes.
Mr Wang also stated that he picked to drive in the evening to avoid police’s inspection. But he was stopped by the police while driving along the high street. Mr Wang was told his illegally modified car had posed danger to the public’s safety as the pipes hindered the driver’s view. Mr Wang was given a fine for violating traffic regulations including illegally modifying his car and posing danger to the public.
